Troop Salute West Texas Troop Salute is a non-political and non-profit organization, based in Midland, Texas, whose express purpose and goal is to show our gratitude and support for the troops and their families who serve our country and protect our freedoms and way of life. In it's first year of existance WTTS organized and sponsored a "Troop Salute" at Midland's Rockhound Stadium that saw 4,000 citizens in attendance. The program included notable speakers including Joe Galloway and Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, ten singing and choral groups, three drill teams and a live feed on the stadium "jumbotron" with troops at Camp Taji, Iraq. The event was covered by all local media outlets and streamed online to service personnel worldwide. The repsonse from sponsors and attendees was overwhelming!! In May of 2008, in conjunction with another non-profit group, "Show of Support", WTTS hosted a barbecue at the Warrior and Family Center of Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. We fed and entertained 400 soldiers, their families, volunteers, entertainers, VIP's and guests and once again the response was tremendous. Future events are in the planning stages. |
